FAQs

what makes your pet store different?

I started this store with one goal: to create a space where conscious pet parents could find products that are not only safe and functional, but also deeply aligned with their values—because that’s what I wanted for my own animals.

Curated with Purpose

Every single item in my shop is hand-picked with intention. I don’t carry what’s trendy—I carry what works. What’s safe. What’s species-appropriate. From breakaway collars to nourishing, biologically appropriate treats, I only offer what I trust with my own pets.

Built on Experience & Expertise

I’m not just a pet lover—I’m a certified pet nutrition coach, pet acupressurist, and pet massage therapist. I’ve spent years studying how to help animals thrive naturally, and I bring that knowledge into every product I stock and every piece of content I share.

Fueled by Advocacy & Love

This isn’t just a business. It’s a mission. After nearly losing my dog Cooper to a collar accident, pet safety became deeply personal to me. That experience—along with my lifelong passion for animal wellness—drives everything I do.

Giving Back with Every Purchase

A portion of every sale is donated to nonprofit organizations that support causes I care deeply about—from animal rescue and wildlife conservation to human and environmental healing. When you shop here, you’re helping more than just your own pet.

More Than a Store—It’s a Movement

Fauna in the Foothills is also a blog, a podcast, a space for education, and a community for pet parents who want to do better. Whether you’re here for product recommendations, safety tips, or one of our pet-friendly group itineraries—you’re in the right place.

are you accepting new clients?

At this time I am not taking on any pet nutrition coaching or pet massage therapy clients.

where can I find your fundraising merch?

I am so glad you asked! You can find it right —-> HERE. :D

Why do you push breakaway collars?

I am a passionate advocate for breakaway collars for dogs because I almost lost my dog Cooper to collar strangulation and I don’t want anyone else to ever go thru what we went thru. It is SCUH an easily preventable tragedy. You can read that whole story —-> HERE.

Can I suggest a brand for you to carrY?

ABSOLUTELY! I am always happy to research new band to potentially carry in my store. Send them over —-> HERE.

do you ship outside of the usa?

I do not ship outside of the USA at this time.

DO you still offer group trips and group hikes?

I have prayerfully decided to discontinue all my group trip after my summer 2025 trips BUT you can still find awesome itineraries and pet friendly adventure tips to embark on your own adventures, all over my blog and Instagram page. :)

do you have discount codes for any brands?

I sure do! You can find those all —-> HERE

Can I suggest a podcast interview?

Absolutely! Feel free to send you suggestion —-> HERE.

How did you choose your name?

Well, people frequently think my first name is “Fauna” but it’s not. Fauna is actually a noun that means “the animals of a particular region, habitat, or geological period”. With ALL of my pets, or “fauna”, fauna made sense. I chose “in the foothills” because I live in the foothills of Yosemite National Park. Hence, “Fauna in the Foothills” was born. :)
